As some of you may know, this year February 2 presented a very unique date – 02/02/2020. It reads the same forward and backward, and it makes me think of a perfect reflection on the water (0202 // 2020), a reflection that is so clear that you can see what’s visible and what’s hidden.

Numerologically, two represents duality, and this date is all about twos; in fact, there are two twos on the two sides of the reflection. We usually think of duality as good and evil, positive and negative, light and dark, but it might be more accurate to think of it as two ends of the same stick, the north and south poles of the magnet, two sides of a coin. In other words, one cannot go without the other.

Duality is not always an easy path to walk. It creates contrasts, points out oppositions, reveals shadows, all to give us a new perspective on our choices and a new understanding of what works and what doesn’t. Duality gives us a mirror so we can examine a reflection of our reality and decide if we like it. We can even say it gives us a Magic Mirror that can reveal to us the things we could not see before.

And even though seeing shadows and contrasts may at times be disheartening, two helps us become clear on what path we want to pursue. It places us at the fork in the roads, showing us potential paths forward and asking us to choose the way. If one represents a starting point for vision and strength, two represents a time of assessment of options.  By seeing the entire spectrum from one extreme to another, we learn what is possible. By becoming aware of what is below the surface, we bring to light things that were hidden. And through all of this, we have a chance to make new choices and shape our preferred path.

This month and year create a global hall of mirrors through which all of humanity can walk and reflect. So polarization and reflection are happening not only in our personal lives, but also in the public and political arenas. What do we choose? What path do we take? What do we want to become as a community, as a country, as a planet?

It is interesting that 02/02/2020 comes to an 8 (if you add all the digits), and 8 (like a sign of infinity) represents balance, internal power, good judgment, and focus. So could it be that a deep dive into the pool of duality where we self-reflect, decide on what works, and identify our range of options is meant to help us emerge with a new sense of clarity and balance?

As you go through this February (which by itself gives you three twos), know that life will continue to present you with opportunities to reflect, assess, and choose. What are you learning about yourself and the world around you? What choices do you want to make about your future? Do you have clarity of judgment and strength of purpose to bring you to a new place of balance? If not, it’s a good time to start reflecting.
